Very poignant composition. For my personal taste, it's a little too bright for the subject matter, though.

The light and shadow attracted me to this photo. Everything about it is interesting and the tall shadows on the top right hint of yet more stones or perhaps trees. I often take a picture and when processed I find a much better one in a much smaller crop, in this case I like your overview picture better than the close up.

I think I prefer this one of the two, the evening light gives a warm glow, even is the context is sombre.

Ah, now we see the wider view. I'm not sure which I prefer, in truth. Your close-up personalizes the deceased a bit more, I think. But this one is more all-inclusive; many have fallen and their anonymous stones stand like ranks of ghosts along the slope. One could write a powerful poem from this image.

The stone on the left marks the resting-place of such a young man. Lifespans were shorter then, and the future so uncertain. I wonder why he passed away at the age of only 24. I often visit local cemeteries to study the stones and ponder those whom they memorialize, but often come away feeling a sense of regret for potential unrealized.
