This morning my friends Art & Marian and I took a hike out to the island in the bay. We hiked around out there for about 2 hours. We followed deer runs through the marsh. The temperature was around 34 degrees F when we started and there was ice and snow coating the branches. It was beautiful out there. We found lots of fox tracks and a few coyote tracks and at one point we saw a vole (maybe a mouse) that was just sitting still at the base of a tree. I'm sure that's what the fox are looking for. It was my first time venturing out through the marsh and I hope it's not the last. There are numerous photo opportunities as long as you keep dry. As we were leaving the temperature had risen enough that the branches were dripping from the melting ice and snow.
PS Walking in a marsh can be dangerous. Never do it alone. We did it because the water levels were very low at this time.
