South part of Masirah Island.

Masirah Island Oman

This is building is rumoured to be the Guard Room and cells (on Masirah? there is nowhere to go) Not a lot is left of what was the old RAF Sea Plane base on Masirah. This building use to have a board that said RAF 1936 above the door until the 1970's, from other pictures on the net it appears that erosion of the foundations caused the walls to collapse. I have no idea what its present condition is.

I have since read that this was a secure fuel store for visiting sea planes, hence the bars on the windows. Each sea plane had a key to the door. which would make more sense.

Just a low pile of rubble now, almost indistinguishable from the other piles around on the salt flats, The 'stone' board was incorporated into the 'Pool Bar' of the Sergeant's mess at RAFO Masirah where it resides to this day.
