He was looking right through me

My first encounter with a free running wolf was in northern Saskatchewan in the early 70's. We were hunting deer in late Nov. I was posted along a fence line and big dark gray wolf came out the woods and followed the fence line toward me, stopped and looked at me at about 30 yards. When I looked at him through the scope this was the image that I remember to this day. He kept an wary eye on me as he continued across the field, stopping a couple of times to look back.
