Odonates, especially dragonflies, are long and wide -- very three-dimensional. No matter which direction you shoot from, there
will be parts of the subject that are out of focus. One way to work with that fact is to focus on one aspect of the subject, as here,
where the face is emphasized; in addition, some interesting wing structure is revealed. Don't always try for "whole bug" shots.
