Snowflakes

by Jerry Curtis

A mosaic of four backlit macros of honest-to-goodness snowflakes I shot this AM
on the glass of my patio door as a storm was starting and the flakes were more defined.
In real life, these were 2-3 mm in diameter.

(H5 with Canon 250D and 1758 teleconverter stacked)

Sony DSC-H5
1/125s f/4.0 at 72.0mm + Canon 250D and 1.7X tele iso80 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Beautiful image - that's amazing you could isolate single snowflakes and show their detailed structure!

Thanks, Sky.
The snowflakes may be all different, but note the consistent and almost perfect hexagonal structure in them all.

Jerry - this is so lovely. They say that no two snowflakes are alike and your photo certainly quantifies that statement. To me, you have created several lines of beauty in this photo. Most excellent work!
