Ancient Indian art is filled with eroticism. It can be seen in many places and sometimes even in the most unlikely of places. This painting can be found on the ceiling of an ancient rock cut cave temple in Trichy in Tamil Nadu in the South of India. What makes this interesting is that despite the obvious erotic nature of the painting if you step back and view it from far (or see the thumbnail) you will notice that it resembles an elephant being riden by a mahout going to garland someone. This is even today a common sight in India. These little gems hidden in the history of India is what still amazes me about this great country.
