Do you know the history of this Episcopal Church built in the early 1850's by the Johnstone family and the sad, but true tale of the "Bride of Annandale"? Helen Johnstone, daughter of the man whose fortune financed this building, was engaged to be married to Henry Gray Vick and they were to be married here in 1859, on her 20th birthday. Her fiance, Vick, got in a duel instead -- 4 days prior to their wedding date. His casket was delivered to Helen's family and Vick was buried here on the very day he was to have married Helen. His grave is in the church's cemetery.
