Unlike some other years, this past December didn't offer a lot of opportunities for "local" (within 100 miles) raptor photography. For some unknown reason, there have been fewer Eagles this winter. Plus the ones I've seen up until now have all been at a greater distance than I would have liked. However, today I did get a head capture. So the New Year seems off to a good start. This shot was taken with the 300mm with no added extender. The Eagle was in a shade with just a hint of sun popping through. I was playing with the custom settings on my Mark III; which just came home Friday from having the Al Servo worked on. I must say that I'm happy with the shots that I got today.
