amazing balance and harmony in this, and of course the touch of color sets it. K

... when yellow leaves, or none, or few do hang/upon those boughs which shake against the cold,/bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang ..."

I do see a few birds hanging in there but I suspect they aren't singing. This is a marvelous shot, and the touches of rust set off the starkness of the limbs and the pewter coolness of the water. How serene it looks! Perhaps, if we are lucky, old age will be like this. Poor Shakespeare didn't live long enough to find out. But with peace also comes the chill and that, perhaps, he could have done without.

This is a photograph to make me reflect on my own "time of year". I can hear time's footsteps behind me, in the snow.

I think the milky sky and the few sullen colors works really well here as they convey the gloomy mood of the season. Very nice and moody landscape. The signs distracts a bit and could be cloned out.

What a lovely scene! I haven't seen this in B&W but I think that would take away from the image as it is. I like the little bit of color from the remnants of Autumn. Nice framing and composition.

Shirley,

these are crows (I think).
It was the first day with white frost here... hope we'll have snow on Christmas...:-)

Best, Claus.

I'm very interested in the birds that fill those trees. They look large, are the Cormrants? I love this picture!

Thanks for your comments,

I have replaced the image with another slightly different crop.

And - after a lot of viewing: I won't do it in B&W :-) It needs the autumn colors (of which there are not so much).

Best, Claus.

Nice! Tranquility of a winter lake.

I think it will be more awsome in B&W, which would remove the red distracted sign on right side.

Yes I saw it too, and I like this very much. The colour is very subdued and subtle. Alistair

Just lovely, Claus. I saw your thread with the title's Shakespearean explanation - very appropriate.
