An alley of small 16th century houses built into the inner ramparts. Their residents over the centuries have been described variously as the archers and the riflemen of the castle, alchemists trying to make gold for Rudolf II, and finally the Prague goldsmiths to avoid paying taxes that would be due if they lived in the city...hence the lane's name
