The importance of this shot is solely that it was done hand held, no tripods or the like. Simply not possible without in-body stabilization. No one makes in-lens stabilized 50mm. Every shot in this 50mm week was done with stabilization in the body.
In theory, one needs to shoot at 1/50th a second to keep this stable. This works out to about 6 stops of improvement from SSS. The shot could be a hair sharper, but it was also taken in the dark, only the lines could be faintly seen, so focus does come into play some.
This is why in-body systems are great. It allows your non tele lenses, and your fast primes to be stabilized. You just can't get that with in-lens designs. Combined with the iso performance of the camera, you can take plenty of shots in the dark hand held with such a setup.
