We landed Houston without relatives or friends. We the empty-hand refugees were set under the assistance of local YMCA. And the person I decided to telephone for help, is my old friend ViVi in Montreal, Canada. This time, I was lucky. He said he could not fly to Houston to visit me, but he would ask his friend to do something. The next day, a lady call me identifying herself as ViVi's friend. She arranged to come with the amount of cash enough for me to buy an used Chevy Nova. Six months later, she brought to us another sum to buy the second car for my wife. Without such financial assistance, I don't know how much more we had to suffer, before being able to stand on our feet.
The help came quickly. But we must wait 13 months, until X'mas to meet my friend, also my benefactor. This picture shows my son gets his first handshake from ViVi as we welcome him at International Airport Houston.
