BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER (Polioptila satrapa)

Myakka River State Park - Sarasota, Florida

The blue-gray gnatcatcher is the northernmost-occurring species of gnatcatcher, and the only truly migratory one. Most members of its genus are residents of the neotropics (Central and South America). This is a tiny, long-tailed bird of deciduous forests and scrublands. Its wingspan is a mere six inches.
