It is about sixty miles from Dien Bien Phu to Muang Khua in Laos. There are 10 or 15 of these little villages like this along the way, 7 river crossings and it takes about 8 hours. The road is paved on the Vietnamese side, but on the Laos side (2/3 of the total) it is plain dirt.
