櫻島火山隔著錦江灣聳立於鹿兒島前，其中南岳到現在仍持續活躍，噴煙不斷。和鹿兒島之間有渡輪往返，所需時間只要15分鐘，像這樣人口超過50萬的大城市，和活火山之間卻只有4km距離，世界上大概也只有這裡才有吧！
