Canon Shooter

South Perth, Western Australia

Now just because I have a Nikon D50, doesn't mean I hate Canon or something...

Almost all of the dSLRs are great cameras whether Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax, Panasonic, Sony or Sigma... And most people needs can be met IMHO by an entry level dSLR and a twin lens kit! No need to spend big money on lenses or cameras unless you need to do hand held low light shooting or you're going to beat your gear about. Although once you've tried using the big pro lens like this guys you kind of feel like the $200 kit zoom (like I was using to take this shot) feels tacky, but in this kind of bright daylight lighting, his lens and my lens will probably produce about same kind of shots and my lens won't break the back or the wallet!

Hi Shane, I agree there's some CA around the girls hat, but that's out of focus in the foreground. CA is a bit of an issue with the lens in some conditions, I've now sold that lens and upgraded to the 70-300VR which is much better optically and ergonomically. However it was well worth the $200 I paid for it and I got a number of published shots with it, including a book cover.

His lens might not have all that CA around the girls white hat though.

Great shot James, and lol, I have to agree with your caption! I do love those white lenses, but as you said, under those lighting conditions, and in capable hands,
the kit lens will do jut fine! V :-)
