This is the grave of Amelia Goyri de la Hoz,and her child. She died in childbirth on May 3rd.1901.Her child survived her by only an hour or so and was buried at her feet. For some reason she was exhumed a year later and the child was found in her arms.Soon word spread and Amelia was reffered to as "La milagrosa" which translates into "the miracle worker" la milagrosa was an example of a mothers love beyond the grave and she is reputed to have healing powers also.people come from near and far to have wishes granted. There is a strict code of etiquette to have any chance of having your wish granted. You must knock three times on the tombstone using the brass handles, then lay flowers on the grave and state your wish, finally you must leave by walking backwards. There is an attendant there round the clock to look after the grave.
