This Land Rover type was popular among the media who could afford armored cars. That means, essentially, television networks and big newspapers. Many reporters were driving around in regular cars. I drove an '83 VW Golf. When my VW finally gave up the ghost it had over 25 bullet holes in it. The radiator had to be replaced several times because of bullet holes. (2010 add-on: while cleaning out a drawer I ran across the key to the Golf and the insurance documents. The insurance was seriously cheap, especially considering I was driving the car in combat!)
