On Saturday night, my seven year-old son asked if we could go do photography together. He wanted to go in the morning like I usually do and to someplace I have never shot before. I told him that we would probably have to go an hour to get to such a spot. He was good with that and so we chose the Horicon Marsh. This marsh is home to thousands of birds such as cranes, geese, ducks, etc.
At 5 AM, my son woke me up and we left for the marsh. We arrived before sunrise and spooked hundreds of birds into the air as we started walking into the marsh. By sunrise, the distant horizon was filled with birds in flight like I have never seen before.
This is one of the shots we took at sunrise. The specks in the morning sky are not dust on my lens.
