Riding the Rails

Huey P. Long Bridge

I rode to the very top (the part with the arches) of this bridge today in a railroad club car. We sat there for about 10 minutes and unfortunately had to leave before sunset so a more important train could come through.
I ask you, what is more important than a sunset.
This is what the club car looks like. It is pulled and pushed by a single locomotive.

Oh, to have been out there with you !!!!'
The last imte we were on the trestle was in 1988 taking the (then) kids on the Sunset from New Orleans to Lafayette/ Glorious view from the top, Only thing better would have been from the cab of a P42.

I like this perspective a lot, Coleen
what kind of birds are in the shot?
looks like some long legs trailing behind them.

What a pity your club car couldn't wait that little bit longer! Superb shot of the
rails Coleen!

That is why the Public Belt should not have control over the Huey Long Bridge. They hold up traffic in Metairie waiting for that stupid train to get off the bridge. The SP should not have given over the bridge to the state.
