Anhinga Recovering
by

Tarpon Springs

Yesterday morning as I walk around the back yard I saw this Anhinga sitting in the yard and looking very stressed out. On a closer look I saw that it had something wrapped around it's beak and couldn't open it's mouth. I got a fishing net and captured her. She was hardly moving she was so stressed by the wrapping on her beak. I was able to remove the fiberous mess from her beak. It was as plastic scrub pad that someone had probably cleaned the bottom of their boat with and dropped in the water. I put her on the lawn near the lake shore and she sat there recovering and drying her wings for about an hour an was then able to fly away.

Well done George, it is sad that a careless action caused this bird so much stress and wonderful you were able to help her. Great shot and a thank you on behalf of the Anhinga...
