These large pigeons live in the swamps and palm forests of New Guinea,
where they walk along the forest floor eating fallen fruit, seeds and
berries. Both parents incubate their single egg and feed the youngster
after it hatches. For several weeks the baby bird is fed ”crop milk”,
a high protein substance produced in the crop of all pigeons.
