baobab tree

Maybe you've noticed that the trunk of every baobab tree has been scarred. Elephants eat the bark, and the scarring stops where the elephants can no longer reach. There also seem to be no young baobab trees anywhere in Tarangire. The only ones to be seen are massive, old ones, with the bark torn away.
