The Babes Of Queens: "Careless Whisper"

Oh, you bet I'm working on another "Babes" gallery,
and this time, it's closer to home. The above photo
represents reality. Watch out for true stories of love,
betrayal, and heartache. The "Babes Of Queens"
are a comin! :-)

"Time can never mend, the careless whispers of a good friend,
to the heart and mind, ignorance is kind,
there's no comfort in the truth,
pain is all you'll find"

-Wham!, "Careless Whisper" 1984

Note: "Careless Whisper" was the last track on the WHAM! album
"Make It Big." It was in fact co-written by fellow 'Whammy'
Andrew Ridgeley (the forgotten one), although the track
signaled George Michael's entry into pop superstardom.

Despite its initial bubblegum pop appeal, the passage of time
has shown "Careless Whisper" to become a true pop classic, and easily
one of the most recognizable songs to come from the 80s era, and
one of my favorite Brit-Pop tunes ever. From the minute you hear the hooky
sax riff, to George Michael's incredible vocal performance, you know the song
is a hit. It stays in your head, whether you like it or not.

"Careless Whisper" is one of those songs that has been covered many
times (Brian McKnight, Tamia, Montell Jordan, Dave Koz, Anggun, etc),
yet no one can remember any of the pale covers. It can't be done.
And for future artists, all I can say is, don't bother.
Nothing beats the original.

I still remember as a kid watching that video on NBC's
"Friday Night Videos." George Michael was at his
pretty-boy, Brokeback best. Michael's personal affairs
are his business, and I'll leave it at that. The song,
however, is great!

And thanks to the magic of YouTube,
here it is. Enjoy!

WOW! Picture with poetry...Sam U R the MaN! The general scene is awesome, the smoke background added a tremendous effect. I also found very sharp the yellowish shadow coming from the cigarette up to your classic good looking face...VOTED
