Nick started Hairdressing over 40 years a go in Derby,England. In 1971 he moved to London, going to the Sassoon School, on a course from which he was offered a position working for Vidal Sassoon, being one of the original members of staff that opened The South Moulton Street salon for the Sassoon group, working there with Artistic Director Trevor Sorbie and being promoted through the ranks until being made Assistant Artistic Director under Trevor, it was in that salon that styles like the Wedge, and Berret etc were conceived of.
Later he became Artistic Director of The Grosvenor House Salon between 1975-77, Grosvenor house was a hotbed of talent, with Darryll Benson,Herta Keller, being European Art Directors were based when in the UK.

Nick was then moved to become the London Artistic Director, at the Sloane Street salon in 1977-80. After 10 years at Sassoon Nick left, and helped established Burlingtons with 2 other ex Sassoon Artistic Directors Darryll Benson and Masayuki-Mogi, after the departure of Flint and Peggy Whincop.
Burlingtons had a formidable and well earned reputation by the mid 1980's and they had built up a strong salon base, as well as being in demand touring the world teaching their own unique brand of techniques and philosophies.

It was in the late 80's that Nick established NFB, a salon, described in Vogue as "one of a new generation of relaxed and uncluttered salons where the emphasis is on well cut, untortured styles.", Nick called Hair Un-dressing.
Nominated several times as London Finalist in the British Hairdressing Awards, Nick was described in the Hairdresser's Journal International as a " Haircutters haircutter'', being known for his ascerbic wit which comes from a mixture of straight forward honesty, lack of superficiality and sharply observed judgement. Above all he is respected for his ability as a first class cutter.
Again he traveled extensively as well as being asked to endorse products for brands such as Braun, Clairol, Wella and Redken, Joico and working with top names in the fashion Industry.

Unfortunately in this last decade nick has had issues with health contracting cancer twice, and undergoing so far successful treatment and gives thanks to all of the people who through their dedication in their respective feilds had brought him through that dark period to today. He would like to thank all at Watford, Harefield and Mount Vernon Hospitals, and the Mount Vernon Oncology unit for all of their professionalism and diligence.

On his return to health Nick is continuing to work as a freelance Haircutter, still doing his clients, consulting and teaching, and hope to be able to do so for many years. On his return to health he decided to 'celebrate' it by doing a video cutting hair on the street outside Selfridges in London, when asked why he did it, he said 'Because i can... '
