A Kettle

Brian, our guide for a presentation
on the Ice Age at Glacial Park.

A kettle is a geological depression created
when a piece of glacial ice breaks off
from a retreating glacier. My photo doesn't do this
justice. You could see the kettle much more clearly
in person.

This Kettle became a marsh. What a Kettle becomes
depends upon the geology/ecology of the landscape.

The only kettle I know is a container for boiling water.....LOL.
The guide must be stretching out his hands to show the wide expanse
of the depression. Nice shot, Bonnie and a very informative composition.

So much more interesting to have someone explain things to you.
I'll have to pay more attention to the landscape.
May I borrow your guide?

This indeed is fascinating...I never knew either.
Looks like he was being very descriptive too.

Interesting. I've heard the term 'kettle' used before but did not know how it was formed.
