The first time God exploded
the universe was born
and whatever was before was forgotten.
God shattered into infinite fragments
and lost himself in the darkness.
For millennia, for eras, for eons,
he searched for himself,
gathering piece after piece,
building a great puzzle full of holes.
Created in his image,
a billion inconsistencies,
a billion absolutes,
we are the missing pieces of God.
He puts himself together
and tears himself apart
inside our minds,
trying to force the pieces to fit,
struggling to name himself,
aching to remember who he was before.
He absorbs our definitions, our names, our dreams,
creating himself out of all we know
and changing with our every experience.
Existing in constant flux
God can never know himself.
He grows furious with his mystery
and the fuse is lit again.
