Argentina's sister Brasil has a complicated history. Built in 1958, the sisters were laid up in 1969, then purchased by Holland-America Cruises in 1972. Renamed Veendam and Volendam, they were refitted as high-end, long-range vessels and became exceedingly popular.
Even so, the ships were sold during their Holland-America tenure to a startup Caribbean line; from 1975-1978, Volendam (Brasil) became Monarch Sun.
She returned to HAL as Volendam, until they sold her for good in 1984. She was Island Sun for less than a year; then American Hawaii's Liberte for less than two years, then re-joined her sister with Bermuda Star Line. For an instant she was Canada Star, then she was renamed Queen of Bermuda.
In 1990 BSL was absorbed into Commodore Cruise Line, and the Queen became Enchanted Seas. She left her sister, probably for good, in 1996, becoming Universe Explorer for World Explorer Lines.
Got all that?
