(Note that the Op/Tech neckstrap is shortened here) The advantage of mounting the neckstrap in this way, connected to the lower part of the handstrap instead of the upper part, is twofold: When carrying the camera by the neckstrap, the lens will tend to point down rather than out. Secondly, when shooting in portrait mode the neckstrap will fall down to the right of your face, instead of straight down from above your face and across the viewfinder.
