This sea otter is checking out his progress on the urchin he's holding.
They hold it between their "hands" and beat it on their chest to break it open (yes, those are foot-piercing sharp spines).
Once it's broken open, they munch it like an apple. I've never seen one seem to be bothered by the spines.

I spent about an hour watching these guys in various activities; this one got hungry and dived down to get a snack.
The water is a little bright, but it's hard to get a good exposure of the dark brown otters, especially when the water mats their fur, so I brightened it to get the detail on the otter.

LOVELY picture! Some people would maybe say that the background is overexposed. I like it because you get more attracted to the real issue of the photo, the sea otter. Nice show of the movement of the water too. The wood curls in front do the picture justice in my opinion.
