We discovered this migrant "sleeping" on the stem of a Salvia Guaranitica early one morning after temps had dipped into the low 40's the previous night. It was our first time witnessing a hummingbird in torpor, a type of deep sleep where they can lower their metabolic rates by as much as 95% to deal with the change in temperatures.
