The warm colors, orange and yellow, were used on the flowers, and the background was a "wash" mixed with the cool colors of blue and green. Also, the leaves being green, were visually "blended" with the background and I added blue highlights to help that effect along. Brushes used on the background were Abstract Brushes>Abstract 06 Two-Color to start, then finished with Blenders>Grainy Water 30. The flowers were painted with Blenders>Oily Blender 20, and the leaves were done with Marilyn's Brushes>Marilyn's Messier brush. I also used this brush to add some blue to what came through as black in the background. At the end, I equalized it and applied Effects>Highpass>Soft Light. I tried two different frames: 1 with a thin band of yellow (warm) surrounded by a slighter wider band of blue-green (cool) picked from the painting; and the other with a band of deeper blue-green (cool) only. I'm posting them both because it clearly shows how different the color of the background appears in each one.
