Together this couple would have three children, one of whom was stillborn. He married second, Katharina Stiegelmeir. This couple would have nine children together. He married third, Elisabet Wurm. This couple woudl share no children. Matthias is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Crete, Saline County, Nebraska.
