Have had a really great day today at the National Target Shooting Centre (NTSC) Open Day at Bisley, trying out some things I'd never done before.
Started the morning on the Running Boar range (before anyone gets worried, it's a cardboard target...) and managed to rather impress the organiser chaps with my efforts, the highest score they'd seen so far (it was only 10am though). Went next door to the Running Deer range (yes, another cardboard target) and did pretty OK there too... chap said "Can't believe you've not done this before !" Next I queued up to have a go at Black Powder Pistol... and did quite nicely again, thank you. After lunch we visited the NRA museum, ogling at several antique silver trophies which were even bigger than me. After that I had a go at Clay Pigeon shooting... and managed to blast 7 out of 10 clays to oblivion. Not many vouchers left, so we went back to have another go at the Running Boar but there was a long list of people booked in before us so there wasn't time. However, the nice chap came out to tell me they'd had another 50 people through the range since I shot in the morning... and only 2 people had beaten my earlier score... Big grin :-)) So what's the kestrel got to do with today ? He was part of a birds of prey display we saw on the way back to the car. He looks pretty coy doesn't he ?
All in all a great day, but now I'm cream crackered. Still, I'm sure I'll sleep well tonight !
Today's caption competition... suggestions please !
