The lithophone pictured here is unfortunately not tuned, and therefore fulfills decorational purposes only. In China and Vietnam there are several different types of lithohpones in use today. Tracing their origins still remains unclear, but they probably date back to the Stone Ages.

Das hier gezeigte Lithophon (Stein-Xylofon) aus China ist leider nicht korrekt gestimmt, doch es steht exemplarisch für Lithophone in China und Vietnam wie sie heute noch in Gebrauch sind. Der historische Ursprung bleibt unklar, jedoch deuten Ausgrabungen in Vietnam auf einen Bezug bis in die Steinzeit hin.
