It is an understatement to say that Kevin is talented. Kevin is a great photographer AND a great writer. It is because of Kevin that I started writing in my PaD. We have two different styles but it’s all because of him. One of the things Kevin has done for me is to constantly remind me that it isn’t the destination but the journey that is important.
When I took this shot I was taking it for the mushroom. I was laying down and I heard a noise behind me. I turned around and saw a large deer looking at me from about 30 feet away. I stayed still and we just kind of stared at each other for a bit. After a few minutes she started moving closer. She would put her head down to the ground and then jump up quick, staring the whole time, not sure what to make of me. She got to within 10 feet of me or so before she realized what I was. She snorted, threw her tail up, and bounded off into the woods. I have never seen a deer this close, at least not a live one. It was really cool. If I could have turned the camera around and got a shot, I would have. But that would have destroyed the whole moment. The mushroom was insignificant to me at this point but had it not been for the mushroom I wouldn’t have seen the deer. It’s all in the journey my friends.
