Junior II

This is Junior, my Sonoran Black Kingsnake. He is a voracious eater (I fed him two fuzzies on Tuesday, and another three today, and he was still looking for more - think I'm going to increase food size a little bit and decrease the number hes eating) with an incredible temperment. As of his most recent shed (a few days ago) he was 38" long. He may get a little bigger, but probably no more than another foot or so. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to photograph him, so any suggestions are more than welcome.

Great looking snake. Maybe you could photograph him wrapped around something or next to something to give scale as to his size?

He's a beauty! Shiny objects require a large, diffused light sorce. I kind of like the blue reflections...maybe some colored light would make for an interesting photo?

Nicely shot, Kasi. Snakes are tough to shoot b/c they've got more body than you have DOF. You're on the right track making sure the head is crisp.

Kasi, what a charmer!
Great DOF here.
