25-AUG-2007 Al Haring

The Intruder
by Al Haring

Yesterday, while I was working on photographing the Saddleback caterpillar, this pretty little butterfly insisted on sitting on my hand. I tried "shushing" it off a couple times but then figured I should just take advantage of it and stretched my hand out to focus distance and shot it. I was surprised to see how well it turned out!!!! (keep your camera turned on and eventually a picture will come along!!!) (please excuse my hairy knuckles !!!)

I think it was looking for a place to lay its eggs...
My grandfather used to say "Always shave your knuckles before you go out taking photos". Guess he was right.
8^) Nice clear shot!

*LOL*

But I don't fully understand your wife. A butterfly is not a bug! It is a wonderful creature that makes me feel happy.

Below should read "my wife THREW me out" !!!

He (she) liked me !! I had a hard time making him go-way !! Matter of fact, when I finished and went indoors my wife through me out ... saying "you have a bug on you!" .... it was this little guy, still hanging on the back of my shirt !!

But you still had te be lucky to get the shot you want! Were you just sitting there all day waiting until the butterfly landed on your finger? I don't have time for that :-) But I have time enough to enjoy your pictures!

Thanks Ray, and Sandy, but I must confess .... I had the camera on the tripod at the time. So it was a little easier than the other scenario!!

It's pretty tricky taking a pick of something on one hand and with the camera in your other hand...and have it come out so well....hairy knuckles and all...nice job!!
