Chambers Evening
Off topic I know, Robaire will be cranky. This is just after sunset. The confounding thing about this landscape is the sun afterglow. Happens for less than five minutes following sunset. The lighting is extreme, lending itelf to exagerated colour. Imagine what it must have meant to travellers after days on horse in the dead planar spinifex desert to be confronted with this.
Some hundreds of kM south of Alice Springs it must have been a beacon in the wilderness. The Parks and Wild life guys yonks back built a steel mesh enclosed walkway like a noose around the base, with stern warnings. I thought it best with out it.
