The surfers are hard to see but I'm not sure if they're integral to the shot or not.

Thanks Jano:-) The funeral two days before was a really sad time but there was a sort of nice vibe to this day.

Thanks Carole:-) Yes they were holding hands, maybe I should dodge it a bit to make it more obvious. I will give it some time & then show them the picy.

Very nice Rod, moody. It looks like they are holding hands as if to console each other. I'm sure Jinnie and Ted will want a copy of this some day. CJ

Your image carry a lot of weight and you have done well with it. The soft sky is a nice touch. -COAmature

I thought this was a great image, I then read your post and it makes it even more poignant.
The composition is excellent as the viewers eye is drawn to the surf, to follow where the couple are looking.

As I write this, I have not read your post referred to below, but the comments here explain the effectively darkened mood of this shot. It reminds me of one of my favorite pieces of music, The Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss. The last song is named "Abendrot" (sunset), and the last line is: "..ist diess etwa der Tod?" (..is this something like death?). Aptly, empathetically, conveyed here. -tv

This is not only a great photo mate but great memory too.

If I were you Rod I would print it and give it to Ted & Jinnie as a remembrance of their departed son.

powerful image to go with the your post

This really is a great image I think many who knew Steve will be happy to have. He in the form of his ashes has gone off to such a beautiful place.
Well done mate, and again so sorry for your loss.

Wonderful composition, because of the people, both on the shore & out a bit.

My condolences, Rod. I'm not sure I see beauty in this because of the photograph or because of the story behind the photograph, but it certainly has a different meaning when you realize who Ted & Jinnie are and why they're watching the surf. Hope you're feeling better. -- RoyBob
