This is a picture of my old Lakland 55-02, which I'd say was the best overall bass I've owned - sounded fantastic, extremely well made, outstanding electronics, extremely versatile, light weight, and absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had a better camera before I finally sold it so I could have gotten a nice picture of it.

Unfortuantely after playing it for two years I had to admit that the combination of 35" scale and wide string-to-string spacing wasn't comfortable for me to play. I ended up selling it and replaced it with a Stingray 5 HH, which is the the second best bass I've ever owned, and it's in second place by only a very small margin.

But if you put a gun to my head and said which is the better bass I'd still say the Lakland because of the amazing versatility of the preamp. But the better overall bas FOR ME would have to be the Stingray since it's very comfortable for me to play.

Yeah, that's picking nits. They're both OUTSTANDING instruments, which my amateur abilities are completely unworthy of.
