B&W PORTRAIT is the Thursday Totally Informal Trans Global Challenge
The sailor in the background listens with rapt attention while a rattler sits (temporarily) quietly as a visual aid
We had training today about snakes and snake bites
Now, granted, there isn't too much concern about that dentally . . .
But I found it immensely interesting, nonetheless
The training today included local snake populations and snake bites
The handler/educator was Mr. Jimmi Bonavita, A biologist with the Navy
For instance . . did you know you should NOT apply a tourniquet to, cut into the wound NOR suction out the venom of a bite???
A light ligature is best (something loose enough to slip a finger or two under, but tight enough to apply SLIGHT pressure above the bite)
and then QUICKLY get to a hospital
Then the expert brought out some snakes . . .
We were mesmerized!
=)
