Welcome, it's Graphics Challenge # 95. Flowers and gemstones of the months have their roots in ancient culture,
each with symbolism or meaning. This weeks challenge theme is Flowers and Gems of the Months. Use traditional or
modern interpretations to create an image depicting a month or the entire year of flowers and gemstones.

This image is for the month of January -- flower Carnation, gemstone Garnet. I started it in Corel Painter X
using Crayons & Pencils. Moved to Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 to use various Artistic Filters, the Smudge Tool
and the Burn Tool. Added a pink Carnation to the girl's hair and put a Garnet & Gold necklace around her neck.
(The Carnation and the Garnet necklace I found on the Internet and modified them.) The Gradient Tool was
used to make the background. Switched back to Painter, used various Blender brushes and Dynamic Plugins
(Brightness & Contrast, Equalize and Posterize) to get the final image.
