bruja, well done for getting the file size under control. I remember when I first joined the challenges

Step 1 - Shoot an image I'm happy to enter into the challenge
Step 2 - Learn how to enter it
Step 3 - Try to up the game to get competitive

You've done all three in your first entry. Well done! Regards, Najinsky

I like the end result and the frame as it is now. I'd be tempted to try a composition with the bird not so centred, but I'm not sure it would be an improvement - having the bird in the centre seems to work in this instance.

Michael

Still learning, thanks for the observations! The colors hark back to some early Rothko I saw, greens are alway a challenge so I decided to work with them.

Victor I agree with you the original frame was not "ripe" enough...

Yes Jim the body language of the bird is meant to suggest dejection. Birds are usually so "perky." ta - ta, b

bruja, this is a lovely image and I actually think the stark border serves it well. However, the image size is around the 500KB which is more than 3 times the allowable size. Please can you re-encode it using higher compression to bring it with the 150KB limit. Please refer to the FAQs:http://www.pbase.com/cslr_challenge/faq or ask if you need assistance. -Regards, Najinsky

I like this picture, but I think the frame needs work. I like how the light green mirrors the bokeh of the background and the dark green mirrors the ironwork. However, the stark line between them mirrors nothing and doesn't fit the picture, in my opinion. If this were to modify the picture from here, I'd probably blur the light green some, and do something to reduce the starkness between the dark and light green -- perhaps simply distorting it so that it's not perfectly straight. -- Victor

It almost looks as if the poor bird is hanging his head, feeling bad about being in jail :) Jim H.
