Hoarfrost on tree, Central Otago, New Zealand

Boy...did I get a good jolt from the electric fence I had to negotiate to get to this tree, or at least the fence I thought I had to negotiate. While fiddling with tripod and other bits and pieces I glanced behind me (I had heard voices) and saw this huge man coming through a gate a few metres down the road from where I had nearly met my demise. I thought it was the farmer coming to evict me but it turned out to be a scotsman from Glasgow who had spotted the potential of this tree as well. He had been forewarned of the fence's characteristics by my sweetheart who was not venturing from the car and he thus made the effort to find a gate. I used it on my way out.

This image will bring back memories of the pain to get it! Great image BTW & a good story on how you got it. I too have felt the pleasure of a jolt of 20kV or so whilst getting an image in NZ. NZ sheep must be smarter than their Oz cousins as normal fence not electric fences used in Oz to keep the sheep in (and photographers out). V!

A photo as wonderful as this is would be worth a small jolt from the fence! Bravo!

Stunning image,I have a love affair with single trees in the landscape :) so this is a winner for me.I know about electric fences,I got a good zap climbing over a style and touched the fence with my tripod, coming backing back was being very careful with the tripod but forgot about my short legs and had a repeat performance in a very sensitive area!!!!!!!!!
