Not Always Fun and Games

As you may know by now, life is not always fun and games. Even for little ones. They are sometimes given really sour apples, but manage to turn all of that into a wonderful experience, full of excitement, and laughter, in a way that only children can.

Our youngest little one was admitted to the hospital on Monday for Mycoplasma Pneumonia. He had already started antibiotics a few days prior, for strep throat. So needless to say, he wasn't feeling on top of the world. The only place that seemed to be comfortable for him, or felt safe, was in my arms. Not Daddy's, not Nanny's, or even brother's.. only Mommie's would do. That is fine, that is what we are supposed to do. Comfort and love.

After the antibiotics started to work, and his fever was gone, my little one started coming to life again. Still not 100%, he couldn't resist the urge to play. It started out being cars, then of course nothing else would do but Mommies sunglasses, and her cell phone.

Having to be there because he was having a hard time breathing, wasn't fun. I was worried, as only a mother can worry about her children. I couldn't cough for him, to bring up the sputum. I couldn't take the breathing treatments for him, because he didn't like them. I couldn't let them put the IV into my arm, to spare him the pain.

Thru it all, he hung in there. After 5 days in, we are home now, and feeling somewhat better. He has been diagnosed with R.A.D. (reactive airways disease) and is on two medications twice a day. Considering what other children were being treated for, we will take this. It's treatable, and we got to come home. I hope the others will be able to as well.

Glad he's getting better. It's scary when the little ones are so sick.
