Silver Sun Disk, Museo De Oro, Lima

Housed in a fortress-like building are the safe-rooms crammed with treasures from the Inca civilisation and their predecessors. The massive collection of gleaming gold, ceremonial objects and jewellery compete for attention, and the famous golden Tumi, the symbol of Peru, has been exhibited around the world. The rest of the museum is just as interesting with thousands of exquisite tapestries, pre-Incan weapons and wooden staffs, masks, mummies, and clothing. Though golden artifacts deem to be the fakes for the most part according to some scolars, it is very difficult to judge whether it's true or not. There is also a vast display of antique weapons and uniforms, a reminder of Peru's violent past. Upper halls are devoted to absolutely amazing, and, likely, biggest in the world collection of arms starting from medieval times and all the way to nowadays weaponry. I was in many castles and visited exibits of private collections in many countries, however I've never seen anything even remotly rich as this collection is... Taking photos in museum is strictly prohibited, so enjoy the moment !

Ann, you know what it's like shooting from the hip at 1/2 sec while trying to be as steady as rock, LOL ?! I think upper portion was used by Inca's king as a shield in his battles, while the lower one by his queen as part of her head crown, then they mould them together when Spaniards came to town, for the sake of no further use, LOL !

Interesting info with this brave illicit shot......strange that the lower section is so intact and retained its colour, in comparison to the upper part. Perhaps the lower is one of the fakes as suggested.
