very much intended Charlie - whilst you have brought a number of stylish elements from diffrent times together in your 'cosmopolitan' I wanted to show something considered at the top of the tree for style in a particular arena could find itself discarded.

Strong comp you have set up here. Being out of context gives it an interesting metaphore od being old and discarded. Set out on the curb if you will. Nice commentary if intended.

Marc - Shirley's comment highlighted to me that some people here may never have held an OM1 / OM2 let alone used them in anger! The other obvious one would have been a self portrait of an E1 using a large mirror - but I don't have the E1 ;o( and the e400 whilst great in it's own way is not an E1 in the context of this assignment!
Thanks for your comments

Thanks Brent - it's the first time I have looked through the viewfinder and imediately decided to switch the camera to monochrome!

I've been surprised nobody around here thought about this yet. Well done Duncan.

Wonderful conversion. Your use of offsetting textures really sets this one off.

I agree with Shirley, it is nicely done Duncan. In B&W it's just perfect.

thank you for your comments Shirley

the setting - a gutter - was intended to highlight how many of these fantastic cameras have been discarded as a result of the E system!

the black and white - well I shot it monochrome and colour and it just looks right monochrome! I tried high ISO to get the sort of grain I got with XP and similar B&W fast film but that didn't work.

I've heard a lot about these OM cameras but this is maybe the best look at one I've had. I thought they were SLR 35mm cameras, like the Pentax K1000? I like the choice of sitting outside and doing a b&w. Nicely done Duncan.
