Thanks for the comments all. Cindy, I did note the smiley on your challenge thread but wouldn't you know, I was walking back to the boat and saw the tobacco wrapper floating in the muck that gathers at the far end of the Marina. It was literally only minutes after reading your message and I thought light wrapper, dark sea, chance for HDR. Twinkling sun, chance for flare, and obviously it's found trash. Couldn't resist. I had to rush as I had to catch the tide. When I checked later, I wasn't too happy with the result, but after seeing Travellers words of encouragement when I got home, I decided to see what I could make of it. Had to go virtually 100% crop to get any sort of composition and see the tiny flares (I think this lens has a coating to reduce flare, smart choice that!!). EW is the right word, I hate to think what the blob at the top right is! The blue is entirely artificial. The water started off murky dark grey. After trying HDR software with incredibly poor results, I applied some extreme processing in Aperture and ended up with this. Sam, I think it is a tobacco packet and the large boxed text on the side says Smoking Kills (in French). I think the smaller boxed text on the front/back is a warning that says something like, smoking this is addictive, don't start. Perhaps a better title for the picture would be Toxic Waste! Yes, - colorful! Kind of scary to think what could be in that water! EW! The glare and dayglo color with the trash does definitely make an impression - far from the soothing water scenes we as photographers often seek . . . good way to send your message. Cindy
